Wolsingham Show 2020 cancelled amid Covid-19
Upon careful consideration, Wolsingham and Wear Valley Agricultural Society has unfortunately taken the decision to cancel this year’s Wolsingham Show, held on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th September 2020 at Scotch Isle Park, Wolsingham.
Following new government measures announced earlier this week, the Finance and Governance Committee has decided that this is now our only viable option to ensure the health and safety of all exhibitors and attendees.
This is sad, but it seems clear the spread of the Coronavirus at large public gatherings poses a significant risk to health and we fully comply with the government’s guidance to defeat this disease. We feel that due to our large attendance it will be impossible for us to enforce the 2m social distancing rule.
The cancellation of this year’s Wolsingham Show was a difficult decision to make as we understand that the Show is greatly anticipated by all members of the agricultural community and the tens of thousands of visitors that we welcome annually.
We were very much looking forward to welcoming you to our 2020 event, with an exciting line-up of attractions, exhibitions and demonstrations planned, however we hope you can fully support us in this decision and we will now start work on putting together an even bigger and better Show for 2021.
We would like to thank all of our stakeholders who have assisted us this year and are humbled by their generous support and understanding. We will be in touch with traders, exhibitors, contractors and sponsors over the next fortnight to discuss the next steps. Thank you for your patience and continued support; we will work through this together, as always.
We look forward to seeing you at the 2021 Show taking place on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th September.
If you would like more information on this, please contact the Wolsingham Show office by email on firstname.lastname@example.org
We hope you all stay safe and well at this anxious time.
